The Lach of Sącz Ethnic Group Museum

The Lach of Sącz Ethnic Group Museum of Zofia and Stanisław Chrząstowski is a branch of the Sądecki Ethnographic Park. It was created from the private ethnographic collection of the founders - regionalists and cultural animators who lived in Podegrodzie from the late 1920s. The exhibition is devoted to the traditional material culture of the Lachów region: agriculture, rural crafts such as pottery, blacksmithing, fiber processing and weaving. Contemporary folk art and ritual art related to traditional family and annual holidays are also presented: wedding wands, Easter palms, harvest festival wreaths, nativity scenes, carol stars, Turonies, horses. The museum exhibits original Christmas costumes from Podegrodzki, created mostly at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. On richly embroidered men's caftans, gurmans, women's corsets and visiting cards, you can admire the perfect ornamentation of rural clothes. The ethnographic exhibition is complemented by an exhibition of archival photos of a rural photographer, Wojciech Migacz, who lived in Gostwica at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, devoted to the past of the region. A separate thematic scope is presented by the exhibition from the own collection of the Nowy Sącz museum entitled "Archaeology of Podegrodzie and vicinity of Nowy Sącz".
