Exhibition of icons "Divine Justice"

Association of Friends of Nowica and the Museum of the Sądecka Region invite you to the exhibition "God's Justice" which is the culmination of the 16th International Icon Painting Open Air, which this year took place in Nowica and Sławsk in Ukraine.
The European legal tradition was shaped by Rome, but the symbol of justice, law and order is Themis - a Greek goddess with a sword and scales in her hands. She is presented blindfolded because people wanted and still want to this day for the punishment for breaking the law to be adequate and inevitable. But is this even possible? Many criminals escaped punishment. Faith in human justice shakes even more when the interests of empires and the powerful of this world are at stake, and those who count on God's intervention, here and now, are disappointed.

The 16th open-air event, in the tenth year of the war in Ukraine, took place in Slavsk in the Bojkov region. The organizers wanted colleagues who could not leave the country to take part. Painters from Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania were invited to participate. This year's workshops were financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland under the "Public Diplomacy 2024" program.
