Józef Lizoń Sculpture Gallery in Rogi

Address: 33-386 Rogi 57
Owner: Józef Lizoń
Tel. +48 18 445 92 83
History: Józef Lizoń (born 1949) has been filling his home and the grounds around his house with his own sculptures for over forty years. Currently, there are over a thousand works on various themes, including enormous figures of saints, Christ, robbers, musicians... That's why the artist calls this gallery an "open-air museum of monumental sculpture." The idea for its creation arose during one of the open-air sculpture workshops, when Lizoń – like other participants – created large spatial forms,
placed in squares and parks. He thought he could decorate the surroundings of his own home in a similar way. He consistently introduces new figures, sculpted by himself, into this environment.
Nature of the collection: Outdoor sculptures and those displayed in the interiors of the house and surrounding buildings, primarily with religious themes: crosses, saints, shrines, but also famous legendary and historical figures, masks, devils, musicians, and others.

Particularly valuable items: The Lizoń sculptures – a realistic, crowned eagle with outstretched wings and an axe depicting the fight between communists and representatives of "Solidarity" for the Polish flag – were given to President George Bush Sr. in the late 1980s as a gift from the Polish diaspora.
The US President sent the artist a letter of thanks, which remains a treasured keepsake in the Lizoń family and a source of pride.

Availability: Large outdoor sculptures in front of the house are visible from the road. Detailed tours are available by appointment with the owner.
