"The World Tree - plants in the folk culture of the Nowy Sącz region"

The exhibition "Tree of the World - plants in the folk culture of the Nowy Sącz region" is an encounter with the folk cosmos seen and told through the prism of plants. The exhibition will include exhibits relating to the broadly understood topic of plants in folk culture.
They will present issues related to the practical, symbolic, religious and decorative use of plants in local rural traditions. You will be able to see works of guild, folk and professional art relating to the motif of plants in rural culture, plant decorative motifs, everyday objects made of wood, agricultural tools and household appliances for growing and processing plants, folk plant medicines and ritual attributes. Traditional ritual and folklore texts related to the issues discussed will be recalled. The exhibition will include archival photographs as well as short video recordings made today, which will show the changes in rural culture. The works presented will include: works by Maria Ritter, Edmund Cieczkiewicz, Jerzy Nowosielski and artists from the folk art center in Paszyn.
