Conference entitled "Anthropology of the senses. "Senses as a research subject and tool." - photo report
On September 21 to 24, 2023, a scientific conference was held in Nowy Sącz entitled: "Anthropology of the senses. Senses as a research object and tool", in which several dozen ethnographers, ethnologists, museologists and scientists associated with the Polish Ethnological Society participated. The co-organizer of this event was the District Museum in Nowy Sącz. During the conference, the title of honorary member of the Society was awarded to Antoni Kroh, an outstanding ethnographer and writer.
The Polish Ethnological Society was established in Lviv in 1895 and is one of the oldest scientific societies in Poland. The General Meeting of PTL Delegates is the most important scientific event for the Polish community of ethnographers, ethnologists, cultural anthropologists, as well as museologists working in ethnographic departments and open-air museums. Each year, the General Meeting of PTL Delegates is attended by approximately one hundred and fifty people who represent research centers, museums, cultural institutions and affiliated associations in Poland and abroad.
In 2023, the 125th anniversary of the Polish Ethnological Society, Branch in Krakow and the 30th anniversary of the LUD-Art Association were celebrated. In addition, WZD in Nowy Sącz had an electoral character. Representatives of PTL members elected the new PTL Management Board, the Main Audit Committee and the Peer Court.
