Opening of the exhibition "Beyond the wall of the world. Władysława Iwańska, painter of the most beautiful dreams and a world that does not exist."
On August 9 this year The opening of the exhibition of paintings by the Nowy Sącz artist Władysława Iwańska entitled: "Beyond the wall of the world. Painter of the most beautiful dreams and a world that does not exist"
Władysława Iwańska /1927-2005/, is today considered by experts as one of the most outstanding representatives of contemporary "intuitive" painting in Poland. In the already extensive journalism devoted to the artist, she is also referred to as "The Mistress of the Sky" and "The Painter of the Most Beautiful Dreams".
The meeting guests were welcomed by the curator of the exhibition, ethnographer Zbigniew Wolanin, who, on behalf of himself and the Director of the Museum, Robert Ślusarek, thanked everyone present for coming.
The guests of the vernissage included: distinguished regionalist from Nowy Sącz, Mrs. Anna Totoń, Ms. Marta Mordarska - Director of the Cultural Center in Krynica-Zdrój, Mr. Adam Mazur - former mayor of Muszyna, a social activist and regionalist of great merit for culture in the Nowy Sącz district, Ms. Celina Kopacka - President of the Krynica Association of Artists "Galeria pod Kasztanem", and also the painter's relatives and friends, and admirers of her work from several different environments, primarily artists - friends of Władysława Iwańska from the Nowy Sącz branch of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts, of which Iwańska was a long-time member, from the Krynica Association of Artists "Galeria pod Kasztanem", the painter's neighbors from the Helena district in Nowy Sącz, professional artists, as well as spa guests and spa patients.
Zbigniew Wolanin, discussing the artist's life and work, shared with the participants of the opening his personal memories related to his long-term acquaintance with the painter, dating back to 1983, when the District Museum in Nowy Sącz prepared the first, large individual exhibition of her works.
The speech of Mrs. Anna Totoń, who had been very friendly with the painter for many years, helped her in life matters and was one of the few people the painter had confidence in, had a special dimension. After the painter's death, Mrs. Anna Totoń put a lot of effort into commemorating the painter in her hometown. The speech of Mrs. Alicja Bożek, who, as the President of TPSP in Nowy Sącz, together with Mrs. A. Totoń, led to the publication of a valuable book about the painter was similar in its expression.
The exhibition of Władysława Iwańska's work at the Nikifor Museum has an additional dimension, not only artistic, because the painter, although she was a person with a very sensitive personality and therefore very distrustful of her surroundings, nevertheless, for many years she willingly visited the museum, always being able to come here count on warm hospitality, warmth and human help from the museum employees.
The artistic accent of the meeting was the recitation of poems by Bolesław Leśmian, with themes and mood corresponding to Iwańska's poetic paintings, performed by Ms. Joanna Biedroń, an employee of the promotion department of the Nowy Sącz museum.
At the end, over an occasional glass of wine, they also discussed the need to combine the efforts of people interested in securing the artistic achievements of Władysława Iwańska and perpetuating the memory of the painter who died in 2005 in her hometown, by preparing a permanent exhibition of her paintings.
