Bolesław Barbacki

The idea of ​​publishing an album about the painter's work was born a few years ago, when I first saw Bolesław Barbacki's painting POLITYCY. It is a scene in which four mature men stare at their interlocutor with a shadowy, beautiful and mysterious face, dressed in a regional Lachów gurman.
The gesture of spread, hard-working hands, concentration on the face, the glow of a lit pipe, newspapers and posters on the wall ignited my imagination. It is a work that contains an extraordinary message. My dream was and still is to introduce Barbacki to the Areopagus of Polish art, because that's where he belongs. With his work, Barbacki proves that you can be globally talented and act locally in your beloved place, which has always been Nowy Sącz. The fascination with this extraordinary man and his portraits grew and matured with age.
When I think about what Barbacki left behind, who he was, how much he did, only one word comes to mind: AUTHORITY. It is a word and an attitude that has been consciously displaced from our vocabulary for many years. We present to you this extraordinary album showing Bolesław Barbacki - an artist, painter, patriot who gave his life for his beloved homeland, educator, lawyer, costume designer, actor, and above all, an ordinary man with everyday dilemmas, problems and passions.
