Museum Pienienskie is located in the building of the former border guard in Szlachtowa near Szczawnica. The exhibition shows visitors the past of the Pieniny region. Those who have lived here for centuries have been mentioned before the health resort in Szczawnica started functioning. We learn what the Dunajec River and alpine meadow were for them. We will learn why they had to leave their homes and lands. We start our walk with a gallery of Dunajec - a river that connects the town of Czorsztyn, Sromowce, Szczawnicę i Krościenko, into their history. The heritage of the region is linked to the cultural heritage. We are entering a local microcosm - a borderland of cultures, religions, nationalities. We enter to the thirteenth century, during the construction of the castles and settlements by St. Kinga, we continue our journey in time, looking at temples of different denominations and houses. We observe the inhabitants of the countryside, which shared the common economy, similar construction and folk costume. We learn about their characteristic activities - rafting and wirework.  Further route leads through the resort in Szczawnica and leads us up to the present day. You can learn about cure methods used in nineteenth-century in health resort, recognize the landscapes and building’s interior. You will meet guests, many of whom have come from aristocratic, scientific, literary and artistic elite, which was extremely important for the development of culture in the region. We end up walking on the Dunajec River, on the old Pieniny Road - the favorite place for walks.
